Originally constructed in 1977, the boardwalk had a makeover in 2002. It is now universally accessible. One of the great things about the boardwalk is there are lots of places for people to sit.

Newburyport is a small coastal city located in Essex County, Massachusetts. It is situated on the banks of the Merrimack River, approximately 35 miles north of Boston. The city has a rich history, dating back to the 1600s when it was first settled by English colonists. In the 1800s, Newburyport was a major center for shipbuilding and maritime trade.
Today, Newburyport is a charming and picturesque town with a vibrant downtown area that is known for its boutique shops, restaurants, and historic architecture. It also hosts a number of cultural events throughout the year, including a popular summer concert series and a holiday lighting ceremony.
One of the main attractions in Newburyport is the waterfront area, which features a boardwalk and a marina that is popular with boaters and fishermen. Visitors can take boat tours of the harbor and nearby Plum Island, a barrier island that is home to a wildlife refuge and several beaches.
